111Ark of TAsTe10Guardians of agrobiodiversityNESFAS was started in 2012 as an outcomeof the collaboration between the Indigenous Partnership for Agrobiodiversity and Food Sovereignty and Slow Food. The organization highlights the responsibility of indigenous peoples as custodians of agrobiodiversity and tasty, local foods. NESFAS believes that food, when responsibly produced, protects the environment, enhances our health and well-being and promotes the role of women as custodians of our agrobiodiversity and foodways. www.nesfas.orgProducts were passed on in a simple but mov- ing gesture of reassigning the responsibility of caring for and nurturing the commodities that they themselves highly value.Through this event, the communities grew into their role as custodians, guardians and believ- ers of collective change for future generations to come. It is with this sense of ownership and selfless service that the indigenous communi- ties of Northeast India are willing to co-host the upcoming Indigenous Terra Madre meet- ing in 2015. The event is only the second of its kind; the first was held in Jokkmokk, Sweden in 2011. The meeting sees a gathering of fellow indigenous peoples from across the globe, in one platform, to give voice to their concerns and achievements.0aallmmaannaaCC© annElIE BErnharT
